De Soto, Kansas EV battery plant is launched
(De Soto, KS) The Kansas Factory will boost productivity by 20 percent compared to the Nevada Factory using labor-saving production lines. Panasonic Energy plans to introduce products with advanced materials increasing cell capacity by five percent. This strengthens the domestic EV supply chain and enhances competitiveness in North American battery manufacturing.
The factory is Kansas's largest economic development project creating up to 4,000 direct jobs and 8,000 total jobs. Panasonic Energy is partnering with the University of Kansas for technological advancement and talent development contributing to regional economic growth U.S. manufacturing revitalization and a skilled workforce.
Kazuo Tadanobu CEO of Panasonic Energy stated the Kansas Factory opening is a major milestone for advanced battery production in the U.S. It accelerates electrification reinforces regional supply chains and nurtures battery talent.
Panasonic Energy's lithium-ion cells have an 800 Wh/L energy density powered approximately 3.7 million EVs with 19 billion cells supplied by March 2025 and have caused no vehicle recalls. Panasonic Energy supports CO₂ emissions reduction through EV adoption.
