(Dallas, TX) Texas Instruments (TI) announced a $60 billion investment in seven US semiconductor fabs across three mega-sites in Texas and Utah. This is the largest investment in foundational semiconductor manufacturing in US history. This expansion aims to meet growing demand for chips used in vehicles, smartphones, and data centers. The investment will support over 60,000 new US jobs.

Key Investment Details

TI's largest mega-site in Sherman Texas will receive up to $40 billion for four fabs: SM1 SM2 (underway) and two additional fabs SM3 and SM4. This builds on TI's nearly 100-year legacy in semiconductor manufacturing.

Industry Collaboration and Impact

TI's investment is supported by partnerships with major US companies. Apple's CEO Tim Cook stated that TI's US-made chips are crucial for Apple products. Ford's CEO Jim Farley highlighted the collaboration to strengthen American manufacturing and secure the automotive supply chain. Medtronic's CEO Geoff Martha emphasized TI's role in providing essential semiconductors for life-saving medical technologies. NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang noted their partnership to revitalize US manufacturing for AI infrastructure. SpaceX's President and COO Gwynne Shotwell highlighted TI's high-speed process technology for Starlink satellite internet services and the importance of a secure US supply chain for their products.

Manufacturing Sites Update

TI is building and ramping seven large-scale connected fabs.

Sherman Texas: SM1 begins production this year SM2 exterior construction is complete. SM3 and SM4 are planned.

Richardson Texas: RFAB2 continues to ramp to full production building on the legacy of RFAB1 the world's first 300mm analog fab.
