Samsung and Kia Collaborate to Add SmartThings Pro to Kia PBVs

(Seoul, South Korea) Kia and Samsung partner to integrate Samsung's SmartThings Pro IoT platform into Kia's Platform Beyond Vehicles PBVs enhancing business digital ecosystems. The collaboration aims to expand PBV functionality beyond transportation into customized business solutions. SmartThings Pro integration allows for wireless control of connected devices and simplified IoT management through a Plug & Play system. This enables automated connectivity between vehicles and business spaces with routine configuration based on destination input. Kia and Samsung plan to develop specialized IoT solutions for various industries starting with pilot services for small businesses. They will explore new business models and global expansion leveraging Korea's smart technology reputation.

"Kia PBVs are designed to be more than just vehicles, they are intelligent business solutions that connect seamlessly with digital ecosystems," said Sangdae Kim, Head of Kia's PBV Division. "We anticipate that our business collaboration with Samsung, leveraging its AI B2B solution SmartThings Pro, will extend the vehicle user experience for our business customers beyond PBVs into the broader IoT ecosystem. This partnership is expected to create new opportunities for discovering customer value."

As part of this collaboration, the two businesses will initially introduce trial services for self-employed clients and small business owners. In the future, they will focus on creating IoT product lines especially for PBVs and packaged solutions that cater to B2B customers' requirements. Additionally, they want to expand their services to B2B clients worldwide and develop new business models.
